Winter Board Meeting Evaluation Survey Results
By Robin Pokorski, President
Of the 88 voting members who attended the Winter Board Meeting in Redding, 41 or 47% turned in Evaluation Surveys. As promised here is a recap of the feedback gleaned from those surveys.
You most liked in descending order: the fast business pace; the reports (though you wished reporters would observe time limits – and one respondent went so far to imply that a trap door timed to coincide with the end of a report might be worth funding); seeing friends/networking; the parliamentary workshop; the tour; the dialogues that the chairmen participated in; and the classroom style room setup.
You didn’t like sitting so long without breaks – which will now be included on a more regular schedule at the Fall Board Meeting in Grass Valley. You like the garden therapy and leadership workshops at the meals and you’d like horticulture, floral design and business workshops to be included. We hear you and you can expect more diversity in the future.
Apparently there are only six early risers among you as 33 of you indicated (some with underlinings and !!excla!!ma!!tion !!marks!!) that you do NOT want an earlier meeting start time; nor do you wish continental breakfast. We’ll leave it at 8:30 A.M.
You were split on whether you wanted more break out meeting time as well as whether you wanted entertainment or the freedom to network/visit during dinner. To please everyone, we will continue to offer one dinner with entertainment and one with nothing scheduled to allow you the chance to meet and visit with one another.
A word on buffet meals. We’ve had two meetings (Fall and Winter Board) and at both meetings the hotels involved did not offer plated meals based on our needs. However, there are no buffet meals at convention. So sometimes it’s not what we select but the only option available.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions. We appreciate your input and seriously consider how to implement as many of the viable ideas as possible.
