CGCI Has Expanded The Reforestation Program
USDA Forest Service need CGCI is responding to the USDA Forest Service need for funds to support California National Forest Service Projects that will help the forests recover from the devastation that result from fire and insect infestation. Expansion Program - Reforestation and Restoration Fund The CGCI Reforestation Program now includes a restricted fund that will be used for Special USDA Forest Projects that support reforestation. The San Bernardino National Forest Native Plant Greenhouse Projects are an example of such projects. The Reforestation and Restoration Fund will give CGCI clubs the option to donate to a fund that will be used to support current Forest Service needs. The Penny Pines Reforestation Program has not changed Let it be emphasized that this program is an expansion of the CGCI Reforestation Program and not a replacement for Penny Pines. The USDA Penny Pines Reforestation Program is restricted to the planting of trees. Donations to the Penny Pines Program are put into a special fund by the National Forests and then withdrawn for the planting of trees as needed. Funds may not be used for many years depending on the need for new plantations and the right local conditions to support the survival and growth of new seedlings.
